This month wasn’t the biggest on the real estate side of things. I have officially concluded my internship with Roots and I’m really thankful for the opportunity. The people there were great to work with and were very inspirational. I walk away with this internship now having a better understanding of what it is like to be an agent. Roots had high quality, hard working, investor minded agents that did great work. I know that in my investing future, I want to work with these types of individuals as they truly understand real estate and play a pivotal role in transactions. Upon finishing this internship, I do not believe that I want to be an agent but rather something else within the real estate field. Throughout this next school year, I am continuing to work for Roots with the task of handling leads from BiggerPockets.
I have now moved back in for school and real estate is something that I want to continue to work into my schedule. As I said, I still am working for Roots but I’d like to add something else. Two of the guys I met with separately for coffee actually started a real estate team here in Louisville. At this time, I’m thinking about reaching out to one or both of them about working for them this school year. I learned a lot of great skills over the summer and would like to implement them here in Louisville. One task that I feel very confident with is doing walk through videos of properties. I think I’d like to offer this skill up to this new real estate team in Louisville.
Another thing that has been on my mind is to go ahead and cold call on a property I have been looking at for a while. I have written about this house before but just as a refresher, it is a house that I believe to be vacant that is super close to my college. I have left letters on this property and have texted them but have heard no response. I’ve noticed that there is a sign in the yard for a mowing company but they do not cut that often. This shows me that the owner is not cutting it themselves and that they might not be there to see that it needs to be cut more often. Honestly, I just need to get some courage and call them. The worst they can say is no.
I encourage anyone reading this to keep working towards their goals. Life gets busy and at times can get in the way a little bit. I have struggled a lot with this. There will always be something keeping us from our goals. It’s up to us how we want to respond. Keep working hard, and pursue your goals.
