At times, I find it difficult to take action. I have felt this a lot recently with my real estate journey. My goal has been to learn as much as possible for a while now. I have spent roughly two years reading real estate books, reading real estate forums, and listening to podcasts on this topic. I feel that I have learned just about everything that I need to know before taking action and have hit a slight roadblock. In this post, I’d like to share how I overcame this roadblock and have begun to take action.

The technique I use to help me take action is called M.I.N.S. This is an acronym for Most Important Next Step. To figure out what I need to do, I have to take some time to figure out what is the most important thing that will get me closer to achieving my goal. This acronym creates a road map for the journey where I can check off destinations as I hit them.

The first thing I will do when starting this process is look to my goals. Goals are incredibly important in life as they give you something to work for. You have to have an end goal in mind or else there is nothing to work towards, causing you to veer off the path. Personally, my end goal is financial independence before the age of thirty. I know that I will achieve this through rental property investing but this is still pretty broad. I need to go deeper and figure out how I am actually going to do this.

I can dive deeper and take the first step by identifying my most important next step. In the past couple of months, this has been meeting with local investors. I have built some solid relationships in my market and have accomplished this step. One of these investors gave me some recommendations of the lenders that he uses. With this I can create my next M.I.N.S. which would be reaching out to these lenders. Through this step I will get an idea of what my financing will look like in order to purchase my first investment.

M.I.N.S breaks down the daunting task of achieving financial independence into easy steps to accomplish. First, I set out a goal of having a simple conversation and then this led to the next step of finding a lender. This has helped me greatly as I begin to start the journey with my first purchase. M.I.N.S. allows me to break apart challenging tasks and gives me the satisfaction of working towards something great!

I am excited for what’s ahead and know that with this technique I will achieve financial independence. I encourage anyone reading this to give M.I.N.S. a try. You never know, this might be the thing that changes your life for the better!
