It is officially that time of year. 2023 is coming to an end and a new year is about to begin. Many people go about setting New Year’s Resolutions at the end of the year in anticipation of a new start this next year. Honestly, I am not the biggest fan of New Year’s Resolutions. Many people will create a resolution only to fail or stop within a few weeks. Think of gyms at the start of January. They are packed full of people trying to start something new. Most of these people will stop within a short time and it will be back to the regulars who consistently put in the work despite what time of year it is. I have no desire to set a resolution only to give up within the first month. In this post, I’d like to talk a little more about this and share my own goals for 2024.

I don’t create resolutions but I do create goals. I create a set of goals that I want to achieve during the year because this set of goals gives me something to work towards throughout the year. The list is a tangible reminder of what I want to achieve and it allows me to come back to it throughout the year as a reminder. I break the goals down into different categories and try to get as specific as possible. Being specific is crucial here. It sets a standard or a benchmark that you will be able to create steps that will get you to the goal.

Personally, I break down my goals into the different aspects of my life I want to do big things in. The sections are Running, Real Estate, Finance, and Personal. I encourage you to have someone or something hold you accountable for these goals. I personally use this blog as an accountability tool to hold myself to these goals. Furthermore, it is also ok to have some goals that are private that you don’t want to share. That is where I break down my goals in the Personal section.

I am not perfect and have not achieved all of my goals in the past. It’s ok to not hit all of your goals but use it as a learning experience. Look back and see where you could have done better and where you could have worked harder. Make the adjustment and do that in the next year. With that, I encourage anyone reading this to make a set of goals for the new year. Work hard and great things will happen. Do great things in 2024! You’ve got this!
