This month was a very busy month between summer classes and my internship. Thankfully I completed one of my classes and can now focus a lot more of my attention on the internship and other class. In this post I’d like to cover some of the things that I did during the internship and what it has helped me to learn.

New Clients

This month I brought on three new clients of my own. Two of them were out of state investors and the other is someone local. It was a little nerve racking at first to have these new calls but by the third one, I felt very comfortable. Having these calls has taught me to be a confident individual who will be the best resource for these investors. It is necessary for me to be an expert on the Indy market and to guide them in a way that best meets their investing criteria. It has been fun to learn how to do this and I know these skills will benefit me a lot in the future.

Team Meetings

Every Friday our team has a weekly meeting. It has been pretty neat to sit in on these. We talk about the Indy market as a whole and progress into how our team is doing this week. We break down any struggles an agent is having and it seems to be very beneficial for the group. I just find it neat to have the opportunity to learn from Tyler who is the team leader. He is a wealth of knowledge and it really just shows in these meetings.

Becoming an Agent

This past month has given me a lot of time to think about whether or not I want to become an agent. I really enjoy the investing side of real estate so representing these clients sounds interesting to me. There are a lot of perks that come with being an agent and the main one being time flexibility. That being said something I have struggled with is that I feel that at times I am always working and there are no set barriers of when work is over. To me, it is nice to have a set time when all of your work is done and you can focus on other hobbies or have some relaxation time. I know this is something I would need to set up if I did become an agent. To touch a little more on the positive side of being an agent is I do find it to be light work. Heavy work is something that is a burden and you don’t enjoy doing. I enjoy my work with investing and even though it is challenging, I do not find it to be a burden.

My First Investment

I have had to recently pivot with my first investment no longer being a house hack. I plan on purchasing an MTR but do not yet have enough funds for a proper down payment and reserves. I will work this summer to save up my money and prepare for my first investment.

This post really wasn’t the most educational but serves as more of a timestamp for later on down the road. I feel that it is important to have things to look back on so you can see your journey and how much you have grown. I encourage you to do something similar with your life. Track your results and learn from your past experiences.
