In one of his most famous books, Buy, Rehab, Rent, Refinance, Repeat, David Greene wrote about working with rockstars. He used this statement as an analogy to explain that if you want to be the best, then you should be surrounded by and work with the best. This section of the book really resonated with me and I would like to share with you all some of my own personal thoughts about this belief.

Rockstars Work with Rockstars

The greatest bands throughout history have consisted of some incredible artists. Each member of the group would have been considered elite and was an expert at playing their instrument. The members would feed off of the other and the group would sound amazing. Each member desired to be surrounded by other like minded musicians who all were excellent at what they did. It is likely that they would not have wanted to be surrounded by a group of mediocre musicians.

This same principle applies to many other aspects in life, including real estate. As a real estate investor, you will want to surround yourself with the best of the best. You will want to have the best real estate agent working for you who is experienced at finding and closing deals. Another rockstar you will want on your team is a great contractor. You want someone who does excellent work at a fair price. You will also want a rockstar mortgage lender who is willing to find you the best loan that will work for you as an investor.

In every single aspect of your real estate journey, you will want to work with rockstars. Not only will these people do better work but they also will be easier to work with causing you less headaches in the process. These individuals will also save you money in the long term, keeping more money in your pocket to invest.

How to Find Rockstars

It may seem like a daunting task to find the best of the best but don’t get worked up about it. This process will take some time and some trial and error. Reach out to other top investors in your market and see who they are working with. You’ll want to also get referrals from other people you may already be working with. As the theme of this post says, rockstars work with rockstars, so it is more than likely that some of the best people you are already working with will have referrals to the best people they are working with.

Once you do find your rockstar team, it is vital to treat them right. You will want to work with these individuals for as long as possible so you need to do the right thing. As the investor, you should bring value to them, pay them fairly, and have open communication. By following these steps you will become a rockstar in that of yourself and grow your rental portfolio exponentially.
