Life can get pretty busy. School/work takes up time, relationships take up time, and personal fitness takes up time. We only have 24 hours in a day and at times it seems like these 24 hours just fly by. Personally in my own life as a student athlete in college, I have sometimes found it difficult to consistently stay on top of certain things in real estate. In this post, I’d like to share some of my thoughts about this and what my plans are moving forward.
Right now, I am pretty busy. I am in the thick of cross country season where practice takes about 2 hours each day and on top of that there is more time needed for active recovery. I am in my senior year of college studying Business Administration with a minor in Econ and I’m graduating a year early. This means that I take a heavier course load of 18 credits. On top of this I am also starting my MBA program as my school has a 2 year program where you start your senior year. To say the least, I’ve got my hands full.
I do not say this to complain but just to show you where I’m at with things. I actually really like the position I am in and enjoy the challenges that my path has created. Due to my circumstances, I have neglected certain things in the real estate space that I really shouldn’t have let go. While I am still working with a real estate company back home controlling leads, and am taking pictures/videos for a realtor here in my college town, I have failed to keep analyzing deals.
Brandon Turner always said that in order to be a successful investor, you have to put in the reps for analyzing deals. So often people say that there are no deals out there but it is these same people who are not analyzing deals on a daily basis. Although I am not currently seeking out a deal of my own, this does not give me the excuse to not analyze deals. To be good at anything, you have to put in the time. Reps are crucial for success and I have slacked off.
Going forward, I want to start analyzing a deal a day. This is not a large amount because as I have already shown you, time is limited. That being said, one deal will not take more than 10 minutes. I can find 10 minutes in my schedule.
I encourage you to look into your own life where you might not be putting in the adequate work. Set a goal and create a routine. Results will follow.
