This month was a pretty good month on the real estate side of things. Before I dive into what I did this month, I’d like to give a little back story. Last year, I reached out to some real estate investors in the town where I go to college. I ended up meeting two for coffee and built quality relationships with them. For one I ended up taking photos of homes and helped move some furniture into a MTR he owned.
I think it is really crucial to keep in touch with people who are successful in your sphere. It is important to maintain and grow relationships so that you can continue to learn from these people. Over the summer I didn’t necessarily talk to these two investors but I was following their feed on social media and I was liking their posts. During this month I liked a story of one of the investors while he was walking through a flip he was working on. He ended up sending me a DM and wanted to meet up for coffee. Had I never liked his post, this would not have happened. We ended up meeting for coffee and I offered some of the skills that I had learned over the summer from my internship. Now I am going to be meeting with him and some of his partners on how I can be used within the business. This all happened because I kept in touch with him and continued to be a positive support in his sphere.
I actually reached out to the other investor this month as well. He was doing well and was happy to give me some more work. He had me take photos and videos of two different homes. One was a pretty nice shotgun style home that was in the middle of some rehab work. The 2nd home was not as easy as the first. This home was not in the best area and had actually been broken into by a squatter. Thankfully a neighbor stopped me and told me about the problem. I ended up going around back and found the back window and door broken with trash all inside and in the back yard. I called the investor and let him know about the issue.
This month was about building up relationships. Relationships are key in this business and I encourage anyone reading this to start networking with investors in their area. There is so much to learn from these people that will help to build a solid foundation in your own investing journey. Get out there and meet some people. We are not meant to be alone.
