Taking the Right Action

Recently, I feel as if I have been a bit in a slump with real estate. I feel like I am doing a bunch of small tasks that really aren’t adding up to much. I am taking action but I feel as if the action is not necessarily the right action. Instead, it is just something that I can say I have done in my continued work toward financial independence. Honestly, I feel as if I am sort of avoiding what I really need to do to start this whole process, which is actually to purchase a home. Now don’t get me wrong, I am proud of the things I have accomplished this far and know that these little consistent actions will add up to something in the long run. That being said I feel that I have used my age these past two years as an excuse to not get started.

This whole thought process started about a month ago when I was working out and listening to a podcast. The podcast was Real Estate Rookie Ep. 271 with Ava Yuergens. Ava was 17 years old when she purchased her first rental property. Ava and her boyfriend worked extremely hard to save up for part of a down payment for a deal they were partnering on with her parents. The couple did side hustles such as flipping couches to save up the money needed for the down payment and other reserves. After a couple of months, they were ready to go and went ahead and purchased a home.

This story got me fired up when listening to it! I realized that just because I am 20, it does not mean that I cannot do the same thing as her and purchase a home. Ava took action. She didn’t have all of the answers but she simply took action. I need to do more of this in my life.

Another podcast that I heard just this weekend was the BiggerPockets Real Estate Podcast Ep. 749 with Josh Janus. Josh is a 22 year old with $1.5 million in acquired real estate. He also is an agent with sales of $17,000,000 in his first year. He is currently making $50,000 a month and is continuing to scale and build his business. Josh took massive action! He went all in on his goals and got work done! His story is incredibly inspirational to me for a couple of reasons. The first being he is 2 years older than me so this is something I can shoot for as time continues to go on. The second is he is based in Ohio so he is in a midwestern market just like I am. I can do similar things as Josh (maybe not quite the great lengths but who knows🙂) and it all begins with taking action.

This was a great reflection post for me to dive deeper into my own struggles and see where I can improve. Are you struggling to take action? Get motivated and just do it. I know I will try to do more of this myself in the coming weeks.
